IF YOU ARE CONCERNED ABOUT YOURSELF
If you are in a crisis and having thoughts of suicide or considering hurting yourself then please talk to someone you trust before you do anything. Ask a parent, family member or friend to help you and go straight to a GP, out of hours clinic, hospital or garda station and get immediate assistance.
IF YOU ARE WORRIED ABOUT A FRIEND OR FAMILY MEMBER
Because you know them so well you might be the first person to notice the changes in behaviour and mood that can signify that a friend or family member is entering or in a mental health crisis. Ask them if they are OK and if ther is anything you can do to help. Talk to a trusted friend or family member about your concerns. DON'T keep them a secret!!
If you feel that your friend or family member is in danger then see our Emergency information below. If the situation is not an immediate crisis you can contact a helpline 24/7 for advice and help and some of these are listed below. You can also visit our crisis assistance resources at www.ineedhelp.ie which has more detailed information on mental health issues, helplines, support groups and safe spaces.
